Talk:Healthcare Big Data Clouds with Wearable Computing, IoT Sensing and Cloud Analytics

ABSTRACT:

This talk covers the healthcare big-data theories, cloud/IoT design principles, mobile clouds system, sensing, machine learning, and big data analytics in real-life healthcare big-data applications. As a real platform covering above theories and principles, we build a humanoid robot system which can detect human emotion for deeper communications with a certain interconnection with people in spiritual world. In order to make user’s comfortable during collecting ECG/HRV signals, smart clothing is worn by the user without any special feeling compared to a normal T-shirt. In order to achieve accurate modeling for human’s emotion, we considers the emotional data generated from multiple spaces: the cyber, physical, and social spaces (CPS-Spaces). The multi-dimensional emotional big data analysis is performed by big data clouds. Finally, the emotion detection intelligence is feedback to the humanoid robot for affective interaction. The goal of such system is not only to enhance the quality of life, but will also influence the way we live, work and socialize in a fashionable and elegant way, which implies our technologies are more advanced and intelligent enough to communicate with human through a certain understanding of human’s emotion and user’s intent.

Talk:The Applications of IoT and Crowdsourcing Technology in Large-scale Petrochemical Plants

ABSTRACT:

Petrochemical industry is a pillar industry in Guangdong province and even in China. Safety production is a problem that the petrochemical industry has been paying attention to for a long time. With the rapid development of the IoT and crowdsourcing technology, traditional petrochemical industry is also gradually exploring various new applications relying on the emerging IoT technology. In this presentation, we will first introduce the research situation of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Petrochemical Equipment Fault Diagnosis, afterwards we will talk about the security problems in the petrochemical industry production, and further introduce a series of new applications researched and developed by Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Petrochemical Equipment Fault Diagnosis, such as Toxic Gas Map and Noise Map. After these introductions, we will further interpret the scientific research problems behind those new applications.

Talk: Internet of Energy Systems: Challenges and Solutions

ABSTRACT:

Traditional power grid is evolving into a new paradigm “Internet of Energy (IoE)” where ICT plays a crucial role. In this talk, we will mainly focus on the challenges and potential solutions in realizing IoE. Three new challenges will be particularly discussed: energy systems, renewable energy resources and electric vehicles. Accordingly, we will first present our recent studies on intelligent energy scheduling for different objectives in energy systems, e.g., energy efficiency, and reliability. Then, we will discuss on how software defined networking (SDN) paradigm can offer high potential for coordinated power generation, storage and dispatch. Finally, we will introduce V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) Mobile Energy Networks for balancing power demand through electric vehicles mobility.
